Promote What You Write Online

November 24th, 2008 Posted in Blog

If you’re writing articles, blogs or simple posts, it is obviously important to promote what you write online—otherwise, why put it up in such a public manner? The common problem is getting your work seen. How do you promote your work? This article is here to help you with that.

1) Well Written Pieces is a great place to start. A lack of usefulness, content or overall quality is a sure-fire way not to get your work seen. Great writing lends itself to natural exposure, so write with skill and passion.

2) Location, Location, Location is a mantra that should be seriously taken into account, and this means picking a website that has a decent amount of daily traffic.

3) Promoting After the Fact is another vital aspect to consider. Talking your writing up to friends, family and colleagues is a great way to start traffic to your writing. Utilizing email signatures with a link to the site featuring your writing is a nonchalant but effective way to get people to visit. Bookmarking sites are yet another way; but be careful not to spam on these sites. Bookmarking your link plus another writer’s, preferably on the same topic, is a good way to advertise.

Trial and error is the way to discover what works best for you. Sometimes great opportunities jump out easily, such as stumbling upon a blog or online discussion that pertains nicely to your article. But remember: nothing beats good writing.
