Ways To Protect Your Blog Content

October 29th, 2008 Posted in Blog

The blog has become so popular that people are literally stealing content, from other blogs, to serve their purpose. This could help them achieve higher Google rankings and worse, confuse the search engine in a way that gets your site penalized. To keep this from happening to you, we have provided a few tips to keep your blog content safe.

Warnings
The About Me page, on your blog, is a great place to start. List all the do’s and don’ts, along with the regulations, for your blog. While it may not scare off all thieves, some might think twice after reading it.

Banish the Right-click
You can make a content thief’s job much harder by disabling the right-click function on your blog. On most platforms, this is as simple as inserting small tags into your HTML code. By doing this, unscrupulous bloggers will not be able to copy any of your text and images.

Require a Link Back

Here is a way to humble a would-be thief and turn them into a networking partner. If someone wants to copy something from your site, have them provide a link, that leads back to you, at the end of the content.
